You are unique and your care should be tailored to you. It can be such a challenge to get care where someone really sees you, the person you are with all your individual needs, hopes and challenges. What no one wants is to just be a name on a chart, a symptom, a diagnosis or some other label that is only a part of your life story. It is important that you be allowed to have the time to truly be heard and seen and I am committed to providing that to you. I have a genuine passion to help you by providing high-quality and patient-centered mental health care services in an empathetic and culturally sensitive manner. No matter where you are in life, I am committed to providing you with high-quality mental health and substance abuse treatment no matter what.
I am always looking for opportunities to improve psychiatric and addiction care services through improved access, actively listening to the needs of people on my care and communicating effectively while also providing everyone with respect. If you should choose to allow me to be your care provider, I will provide you with the high level of care and integrity that you deserve, expect and desire.
A little about me, I started out as a family nurse practitioner back in 2006, and my career as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in 2013. I began my psychiatric-mental healthcare career full-time in 2014 by initially providing outpatient mental health care services, including addiction and substance use disorder services in the State of Missouri. Additionally, I have been providing mental health services through telemedicine over the past almost 4 years into Kansas and Missouri, which has included nursing homes and skilled nursing, correctional facilities, inpatient addiction and substance use treatment, and general outpatient clinic services.
I am a board-certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. In addition to my practice here at CGO, I work part-time as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. I obtained my BSN from Southwest Baptist University, MSN from UMKC, Post-Master Certificate from KU and finally, my Doctorate from Chamberlain University
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones and watching sports, especially softball!

Sometimes life brings us experiences and relationships that are unhealthy, traumatic and painful. Finding your way through that pain and learning how to cope, while creating the life you want and developing the skills you need, can feel impossible. While life brings challenges there can also be those bright spots where you connect with another person, whether a teacher, coach or friend, that can make all the difference.
While playing in high-pressure and competitive sports in high school and college and serving in the United States military, I learned that a person can do more than they ever imagined, but also that the team you surround yourself with is critical to success. I have a passion for helping others through counseling because I believe in the strength that people have deep inside them, even when they don’t see it yet. Even when they doubt it.
After my time in the United States Navy I obtained my bachelor degree from Missouri Valley College and then my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Webster University. My over 20 years of experience in mental health treatment has included working with clients of various ages, socio-economic, backgrounds and identities. In 2015 I decided to open my own counseling practice with the goal of increasing access and the quality of mental health care in Southwest Missouri.
In my spare time I enjoy rooting for my home state teams the Tennessee Titans and Tennessee Volunteers, watching documentaries and auto racing and spending time with friends and family.

What we think and feel about ourselves matters, and so many times it drives what we do. What we have learned about how to cope, and what our life will always be, is not always true. My job is to help you walk through all the mess, the pain and hurt, and help you figure out what is healthy and true, and what is a burden you no longer have to bear.
On the more “official” side of things, I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Missouri State University and Bachelor degrees in Psychology, Sociology and Criminology from Drury University. My approach to treatment includes a mixture of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral and Trauma-Informed mental health therapy. I appreciate, value and have worked with people of many different backgrounds, ethnicity, and personal identities. It’s not your job to try to “fit in” with me. It’s my human obligation to accept you for who you are and where you are in life. Then it’s my privilege to work with you to help you be who you want to be.
When I am not working I spend a lot of time reading, spending time with those that I love, watching “trashy reality TV shows”, and singing along to pretty much every song on the radio...even if I don’t really know the words! I love to laugh, hear a good joke or story and experience and share joy. When I can, I love traveling to the ocean, because there is something about the beach that soothes my spirit and calms my soul.

None of us are exempt from the scratches, bruises, and scars that life inflicts upon us, but I’m here to tell you that you are hardwired to survive. You’re literally built for it. And better yet, when given the appropriate tools, you can actually thrive. I know it might not seem like it now, but you are fully capable of healing through the hurt, learning how to handle the mess when it shows up, and living a life of true fulfillment. Everything you need is within you. You are not alone.
I am here to walk with you through the dark times, help you heal past traumas, and uncover the goodness in yourself and in life. I offer a safe space, free of judgement, to navigate life’s struggles and sort out the confusion and distress that often comes along with them. You deserve to experience freedom and wholeness in who you are regardless of life’s circumstances. It would be an absolute honor to be a part of your journey toward healing, acceptance and empowerment.
I graduated from Missouri State University with both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Social Work and I am currently under supervision to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am also a certified Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor II (MAADC II). Specializing in working with adolescents and young adults is what I love and also providing trauma informed treatment for co-occurring disorders. My approach to treatment involves a mixture of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral and Narrative Therapy.
On a more personal note: I love chocolate, Netflix, and snuggling my dogs. When I’m not working I’m probably hiking, spending quality time with my favorite people, attending concerts, or listening to true crime podcasts. I love the variety in life and to travel the world at any opportunity that I can in an effort to more deeply connect with life’s goodness.
